CELEBRATING 90 YEARS SINCE 1936

MOVING EVERY GENERATION

From first journeys to what's next, we've been moving people, businesses, and communities forward.

90 YEARS OF MOVING FORWARD

As Caltex celebrates 90 years of moving people, businesses, and communities forward, we also celebrate the trust built across generations through every road travelled, engine protected, and partnership formed. From service stations to fleet operations, Caltex has continued to evolve alongside changing technologies, needs, and ambitions, while remaining committed to the people who rely on us every day.

This anniversary is not only a reflection of our heritage, but also a commitment to the future we continue to shape together. Guided by decades of innovation and reliability, we continue to deliver trusted fuels, lubricants, and solutions that keep businesses, communities, and future generations moving forward.

JOURNEY THROUGH THE DECADES

Explore the milestones and moments that shaped 90 years of progress.

1930s

Started as the California Texas Oil Company, a joint venture between Standard Oil Co. of California (Socal, later Chevron) and The Texas Company (later Texaco).

1940s

Caltex grew quickly, and by 1950, established a presence in over 67 countries and supplying motor spirits, benzene, and lubricants to farms, airlines, factories, and motorists.

1950s

Our expansion into Asia, Africa, and Oceania may be diverse, but we remain focused on building a grassroots brand and working closely with the local communities wherever we operate.

1960s

From Boron in the 1960s to Vortex in the 1990s to Techron in 2006, Caltex has led the way in offering motorists high-performance fuels in all its markets.

1970s

Havoline and Delo introduced the Havoline® Supremo SAE 10W-40 to help maximise fuel efficiency, and the first grease capable of extending lubrication intervals of heavy duty equipment to 30,000 km, respectively.

1980s

Caltex at 50: Our proudest legacy is that, across the countries where Caltex operates, its reputation as a responsible corporate citizen and fair employer has never been tarnished in any corner of the globe where the Caltex banner flies.

1990s

Caltex was mentioned by Forbes magazine for its focus on serving the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region: “All of the oil majors are looking to the Far East for growth, with Caltex, Chevron and Texaco already there”.

2000s

We’ve put our customers first since since day-one, a commitment perfectly captured by our defining "What Drives You" ad campaign in the 2000s, followed by “Enjoy the Journey” during the 2010s.

2010s

By 2009, over 50% of Caltex sites are owned by independent investors supported by strong loyalty programmes, a robust network of retail brands and digitised customer services.

2020s

Caltex’s lubricant legacy endures, with Havoline marking 120 years in 2024 and Delo celebrating 90 years in 2025, underscoring decades of innovation in engine performance and protection.

Present

90 years on, Caltex continues to move generations forward through a network of over 4,000 service stations delivering quality, service, and reliability across the region.

OUR STORY IS BEST TOLD THROUGH PEOPLE

Behind every journey are the people who make it possible. Across generations, Caltex has grown alongside the staff, partners and retailers who continue to shape our story.
